Project description and aim

Product innovation and resource efficiency are key success factors for companies. In this context, surface treatments are of significant strategic importance as they enable the substrates to be decorated, protected, and given the desired physical, chemical and mechanical properties. For this purpose, plasma technology represents a resource-saving and low-emission alternative to the usual modification and coating processes, with an important barrier being the industrial diffusion of this future technology.  

 

The aim of the ICAP project is to develop tailor-made surface modifications for companies in the program area by using different plasma technologies and processes. To achieve the required surface properties, atmospheric pressure plasma, low pressure plasma and sputtering processes are used to activate the surfaces and / or to provide the desired surface coating with PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technology. The innovative character of the project is the combination of these different high-tech plasma processes, which can be used to modify surface properties in a ressourced, low-emission and environmentally friendly manner.

Through cross-border cooperation and the use of the multidisciplinary skills of the project partners, the project will help to improve the industrial application of this technology. The direct relationship with the companies will allow the partners to develop solutions in accordance with the market requirements and to directly transfer.
