Wood K plus Symposium 2024 - "Circularity in bio-based materials"
On 14 October 2024, our second top-class scientific symposium took place at our location in Linz at the JKU (Johannes Kepler University). Around 70 colleagues from scientific partners, corporate partners and other universities, organisations, companies and networks took part.
The symposium was done in cooperation with our Interreg Danube Region project “RTIT>>” (“Knowhow Communities for Accelerating RTI Transfer in the Danube Region”) to strengthen also the cooperation within the Danube Region.
After some welcome words of Vice Rector for Research and Internal Affairs at the JKU Linz Alberta Bonanni and CEO of Wood K plus Boris Hultsch ten well-known speakers shared up-to-date insights in their presentations that dealt with a technical and socio-economic focus.
This range of topics enabled the participants to familiarise themselves with the framework conditions, specifications, strategies etc. relating to material and process-related R&D activities and to put them into context. This is and will increasingly become a necessity in the development of new innovative cycles, including any new business and application areas.
The talks discussed topics besides pure R&D activities like policies, strategies from EU and countries, (social) life cycle assessment, Safety and Sustainability by Design (SSbD), living architecture, engineered living materials, reclaimed wood, harnessing water for sustainable material synthesis and processing, and bioeconomy in Latin America.
We would like to thank all participants and speakers for this fascinating day of active networking and many interesting discussions and look forward to welcoming you again at our next event.
