We are a leading research organisation in the area wood and wood-related renewable resources in Europe. Our core competences are materials research and process technology along the complete value chain – from raw material to finished products. We develop methods and basics and perform applied research on the economy-science interface, in order to enable resource-efficient management in the circular bioeconomy.


The team "Fibers, Carbon and Ceramics" is conducting research on sustainable fibers and carbon materials for a wide range of applications. The research work includes functional carbons for elec-trodes in energy storage systems, activated carbon fibers for filters, conductive fillers or reinforcing fibers for composites. The entire process chain including melt spinning of fibers, fiber modification, thermal conversion processes and material characterisation is covered. For support in the numerous research projects we are looking for a:


Senior Researcher (f/m/d)


Your responsibility:

  • Preparation of carbon materials from bio-based raw materials
  • Characterisation of functional carbons
  • Electrochemical characterisation and evaluation
  • Expansion and maintenance of the partner network
  • Drafting of project proposals
  • Writing scientific publications
  • Presenting results at national and international conferences



Your qualification:

  • Completed doctoral studies preferably in material science, chemistry or physics
  • Experience in material characterisation and electrochemistry
  • Experience in project management (industry and/or research)
  • Very good English required, German skills are advantageous
  • Reliable working attitude, independent and flexible development of solutions
  • High level of commitment and initiative
  • Team player
